Things to consider when changing your Brake Pads

If you feel like you want to change your brakes yourself and save some money there are a few things you should be aware of. Please take care and ensure that you keep safety at the forefront of your mind to avoid injury.

You will need to get a hold of a few basic tools to do them at home such as a Allen keys, jack stand, adjustable wrench, bungee cord, hammer, lug wrench and a c-clamp. Once you have all of these you are ready to begin.

When you are start the process of changing your brake pads you may find it a lot simpler if you looses the lugs before you jack it up. Start with the bottom lug nuts and work your way up so the wheel can remain in place. Once the car is on the jack stands make sure it is secure before you start working on the pads.
